Stephen Maher Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Steve Maher passed away on December 1, 2010 at the age of 58 years. His father, Daniel Maher, preceded him in death. Steve was born to Daniel and Beulah (Hammen) Maher on July 10, 1952 in Minneapolis, MN. He graduated from Southwest High School in 1970 and then attended night classes at Dunwoody Institute. Steve was united in marriage to Brenda Svoboda on December 10, 1977 at St. Thomas Catholic Church in Minneapolis. The couple was blessed with three children. Steve worked for seven years at Christy Pontiac in White Bear Lake, MN. He was a partner with Leo Weber at Alex Transmission & Exhaust and Steve was a Snap-On Tool dealer for seventeen years. In 1986 Steve and his family moved to Alexandria, MN. He was currently employed by the City of Alexandria. Steve?s enjoyment was with his family and friends. He enjoyed hunting and fishing. He loved spending time with the family dog, Bear, and he loved the great outdoors. Steve is survived by his wife of thirty?two years, Brenda Maher, of Alexandria; one daughter, Lisa Bostrom and husband, Tim, of Carlos, MN; two sons, Andrew Maher of Springfield, IL and Michael Larsen and wife, Kristy, of Bloomington, MN; He will be greatly missed by his six grandchildren, Dakota, Marah, Brooklyn and Reese Bostrom and Garrett and Griffin Larsen. He is also survived by his mother, Beulah Maher of Waconia, MN; sisters; Rosemary Benke and husband, Mike, of Roseau, MN, Kathleen Taykalo and husband, Tim, of Owatonna, MN and Theresa Crawford of Minneapolis; brothers, Dan Maher of Anchorage, AK, Pat Maher and wife, Lynnette, of Plymouth, MN, Tim Maher and wife, Lauren, of San Clemente, CA and Mike Maher of Waconia, MN; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was held Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at St. Mary?s Church in Alexandria. Reverend Father Steve Binsfeld was the celebrant. Interment followed in St. Mary?s Cemetery. Casket bearers included Nick Nickle, Pat Maher, Kevin Colin, Ernie Moen, Mike Sexton and Bernie Raidt. Honorary casket bearers included Leo Weber, Vinnie Hennen, Larry Johnson and all of Steve?s grandchildren. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
