Harry Schrupp Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Harry Arthur Schrupp was born on December 5, 1920, in Woodlake, MN, to Frank and Rosa (Doose) Schrupp. He graduated from high school in Woodlake and worked on the family farm. He enlisted into the United States Army where he served for four years during WWII. On January 23, 1945, Harry was united in marriage to Marjorie Melling in Vesta, MN. Harry worked as a blacksmith in Echo and Fulda. In 1950, the family moved to Richfield, MN, to work with Toro Manufacturing. Harry?s career was in Research and Development as an experimental technician; he retired in 1978. After retirement, Harry and Marge moved to Maple Lake near Forada. Harry was very active in his community. He volunteered as a Boy Scout leader, served in the Police Reserve in Bloomington, and was a long-term care Ombudsman in the Alexandria area. He was an active member of Mount Calvary Lutheran Church and Redemption Lutheran in the Twin Cities prior to joining Zion Lutheran. Harry was a member of both the American Legion and VFW. Harry loved his family, lake life, fishing, and dancing. Harry died on Thursday, August 4, 2011, at the Community Memorial Home in Osakis at the age of 90. He is survived by his loving wife, Marjorie of 66 years; son, Ken (Nancy) of Shakopee; daughters, Jeri (Terry) Mehlbrech of Tea, SD, Barb (Kate Graber) Schrupp of Sun Prairie, WI, and Jodi (Rick) Pelishek of Rice Lake, WI; eleven grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren; sister, Rosemary Iverson of Granite Falls; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Rosa; brothers, Herb, Ray, and Franklin; and grandchildren, Jamey, Joey and Mary Pelishek. A funeral service was held on Saturday, August 6, 2011, at Zion Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend David Hinz and William Moeller officiating. Music was provided by pianist, Mertice Brueske soloist, and Dan Olson, and trumpeter, Christine Uhl. The Alexandria American Legion Post 87, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 936 and the Minnesota National Guard Honors provided military Honors. Interment was in Geneva Cemetery in Alexandria. Casket bearers were Harry?s grandchildren: Robert Schrupp, Brian Schrupp, Matthew Pelishek, Michael Mehlbrech, Brenda Schrupp, and Michelle DeYoung. Honorary casket bearers were Harry?s grandchildren, Kristin Turek, Rebecca Grundhauser, Karl Pelishek, Erika Pelishek and Emily Pelishek. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
