Ruth Hartman Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ruth Elaine Hartman was born March 1, 1926 to Peter Jens and Myrtle (Redding) Jensen at Fargo, ND. She was raised and educated in Fargo. On February 2, 1945 Ruth was united in marriage to Francis C. Hartman at San Diego, CA while Francis was serving in the US Navy. Ruth lived in Iona, MN for the next six years. In 1951 the couple moved to Alexandria, MN. Following their retirement Ruth and Francis moved to Hemet, CA where they gathered many new friends. While in California she was a member of St. Anthony?s Church in San Jacinto. In Alexandria Ruth was a member of St. Mary?s church. She also served in the VFW Auxiliary. Ruth enjoyed craftwork and decorating her home. Her most treasured joy was in loving and caring for her family. On Saturday September 27, 2008 Ruth died at the age of eighty-two years at Sharon?s Senior Services. She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Lori Harstad; one great grandson, Zachary Salto; one brother; and three sisters. Ruth is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, Frank Hartman, of Alexandria; son, James Hartman and wife, JoAnne, of Wahpeton, ND; daughters, Bonnie Salto and husband, Norman, of Alexandria, Carol Swanson and husband, Gary, of Hemet, CA, and her very special daughter, Mona Lisa Hartman of Alexandria; five grandchildren, Ted Salto, Tim Salto, Tom Salto, Teresa Harstad and Misha Harstad; and six great grandchildren, Blaine Wheeler, Brittany Tripp, Hannah Salto, Chelsea Salto, Johnny Salto and Elizabeth Harstad. The family would like to give a special thanks to Sharon?s Senior Services and the Douglas County Hospice for their wonderful care. A funeral service was held Wednesday, October 1, 2008 at Anderson Funeral Home. Entombment was in St. Mary?s Cemetery. Rev. Fr. Steve Binsfeld officiated. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home.
