Sherri Bear Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Sherri Ann Bear was born on August 22, 1940 in St. Paul, Minnesota to Russell and Genevieve (LeVasseur) Turnquist. She was united in marriage to Owen Bear and her children include: Becki, Mike, Vicki, Albert, Kevin, Kelly, Jim and John. Sherri worked as a homemaker and also worked in sales including insurance and advertising. For a season she and Owen owned a restaurant. She later worked as a cook for the Salvation Army. In her retirement she lived out her motto of ?Love Everyone, Serve Anyone!? and continued her joy of cooking to serve others. Sherri went home to see her Savior, Jesus on Tuesday, July 10, 2012 at her home in Alexandria at the age of 71. She is survived by her sons, Mike (Jan) Bear of Marion, IA, Albert (Renee) Bear of Newhall, IA, Kevin (Tammy) Bear of Bloomington, MN and Jim (Lisa) Bear of Alexandria; daughters, Becki (Doug) Franck of Fairfax, IA, Vicki (Bob) Siek of Grand River, IA, and Kelly (Ed) Gnat of Salinas, CA; 18 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren; siblings, Marilyn, Glen, Joy and Richard; many nieces and nephews; and dear friends. Sherri is preceded in death by her parents, Russell and Genevieve; husband, Owen; son, John; and brothers, Merril ?Louie? DeLisle and Walter Turnquist. A funeral service was held on Friday, July 13, 2012 at the Alexandria Covenant Church in Alexandria with Reverend John LeVahn officiating. Music was provided by organist, Nancy Holm and soloists, Tony Pitschka and Emily Bear. Interment was in Oakwood Cemetery in Shellsburg, IA. Casket bearers were Carl Kaeding, Shane Franck, Seth Franck, Doug Franck, Jake Bear and Dale Erickson. Anderson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
