Ronald Jelsing Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Ronald Gordon Jelsing was born July 4, 1933 in Alexandria to Oscar and Ann (Wynnager) Jelsing. Ronald's developmental disability was thought to be due to a cerebral birth injury, he experienced convulsions shortly after his birth. At two years of age, he became ill and had pneumonia. They had given up hope for his survival, but he recovered. His treating physician diagnosed him as having inflammation of the brain. He resided in his parental home until he was institutionalized at Faribault State Hospital in 1944 until March 31, 1975. He resided at Fergus Falls Regional Treatment Center from March of 1975 until October 5, 1995. He has resided at Carlos MSOCS from October 6, 1995 until his death. Ronald lived with two other mentally handicapped consumers in a home for people with developmental disabilities served by a 24 hour shift staff of dedicated and caring providers. Ronald attended Productive Alternatives in Parkers Prairie from October 10, 1995 until his death. Productive Alternatives is a licensed developmental achievement center with several other consumers. Productive Alternatives are dedicated and caring staff. Ronald has been baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran religion. Ronald died on March 21, 2010 at the Douglas County Hospital in Alexandria at the age of 76. A memorial service was held on Tuesday, March 30, 2010 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend Marilee Bergerson officiating. Honorary urn bearers were Co-Workers of Ronald and Staff and Housemate at Carlos MSOCS. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
