Cyndi Nelson Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Cyndi K. Nelson died peacefully at Knute Nelson on April 6, 2014, after a lengthy battle with Parkinson?s disease. Cynthia K. Johnson was born on April 1, 1961, the daughter of Leroy Carlton Johnson and Doris Violet Larson-Johnson at Our Lady of Mercy Hospital in Alexandria, Minnesota. She was baptized at home during a snowstorm with Paster Lokken officiating. Sponsors were Betty and Roy Wilberg and Arlene Johnson. Cyndi was confirmed in May of 1976 by Pastor Wickstrom at Immanual Lutheran Church in Barrett, and graduated with her class of 15 from Barrett High School in 1979. Jokingly she would tell people she graduated sixth in her class. She was active in basketball, volleyball, track, cheerleading, drama, 4H, and played trumpet in the marching band. She traveled throughout Minnesota, with her father and brothers, Wayne and Delroy, singing in their family band the ?Country Drifters?. Throughout high school Cyndi worked at Anderson?s Caf� in Barrett. After graduation she worked in Elbow Lake at the Grant County Assessor?s office, Schroeder?s Department Store, Dr. Eide?s Eye clinic and at the Barrett Liquor Store. Cyndi was married to Dennis Lee Rosin from 1980 until 1988. When Cyndi met Mike Nelson they instantly hit it off and ?clicked together? from the start. They were married May 26th, 1990 and made their home in Alexandria. While living in Alexandria, Cyndi was employed at Michael?s Supper Club, Eagles Club, Herbergers, and Salon Alexis. Additionally Cyndi and husband Michael had fun operating their crafting business ?The Shack Out Back?. Cyndi treasured the experiences she shared with Mike while riding their Harley Davidson motorcycle. She had fond memories of the countryside they had seen, the events they had attended and the people she had met. The people in her life meant a great deal to her. She enjoyed arranging birthday parties, hosting holidays and organizing family reunions. She had a special place in her heart for animals and an understanding of their feelings. Cyndi had an artistic streak and enjoyed painting, writing, drawing, crafting, growing and arranging flowers. She was proud of her 100% Norwegian Ancestry. Cyndi was diagnosed with Parkinson?s disease in 2003. She was an advocate of the Parkinson?s Association of Minnesota as well as several Alzheimer?s associations. For many years she was primary caregiver her mother, Doris, who was a victim of Alzheimer?s. Cyndi is survived by her husband, Mike; father & stepmother: LeRoy & Norma Johnson of Alamo, TX; brother, Wayne (Chris) Johnson of Monticello, MN; sister, Sherryl (Al) Suchy of Parkers Prairie, sister-in-law, Shirley Johnson of St. Cloud; three nieces, seven nephews, many aunts, uncles and cousins. Cyndi was preceded in death by her mother, stepfather, Doris & Stan Waugh; brother, Delroy Johnson, two siblings who died as preemies. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014, 2:30 p.m. at Calvary Lutheran Church. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
