Clifford A. Mattson

Clifford A. Mattson age 86 of Miltona formerly of Racine, WI died on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his home. A Celebration of Life Service will be held 6:00 PM on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. OBITUARY Clifford Arthur Mattson was born on August 6, 1928 in Alexandria Township, Douglas County, Minnesota to Louis and Gertrude (Green) Mattson. He graduated in 1946 from Central High School in Alexandria. He served in the U.S. Army from October 1950 to October 1952 and was stationed in Germany. Clifford worked at Snyder Drug in Minneapolis. In 1956, he became a co-owner of Osseo Drug Store in Osseo. Clifford then moved to Racine, WI where he met Sandra Davidson, and they were married on August 13, 1966 in Ontonagon, MI. The couple lived in Racine, WI and Clifford worked in management and driving in the trucking industry for Allied Trucking and Promotions Unlimited. Clifford retired in 2010 and moved back to Minnesota and resided on Lake Irene in Miltona. Clifford enjoyed golfing, fishing and making Swedish pancakes. He loved watching the Minnesota Twins, Milwaukee Brewers, and the Green Bay Packers. Clifford was an extremely avid reader about World War II, and anything political. Crossword puzzles and Sudoku became his passion and he appreciated the morning coffee group and also a good practical joke. Clifford will be remembered as a good brother, uncle and friend and someone who chose to see the good in everyone. Clifford died on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his home in Miltona at the age of 86. He is survived by sisters, Elvira Blank of Miltona and Helen McClellan of Tacoma, WA; several nieces and nephews and grand nieces and nephews. Clifford is preceded in death by his brothers, Rudolph Mattson, John Peter Mattson and Karl Mattson; sisters, Ruth Dusenbery, and Clara Mae “Kelly” Hermsen; and nieces and nephews. A celebration of life service was held on Monday, June 15, 2015 at the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria with Reverend Lynndene Way officiating. Military Honors were provided by the American Legion Post 87, VFW Post 936, Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 235, and the Minnesota National Honor Guard. Inurnment was in Geneva Cemetery in Alexandria.
