Milo Widmark Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Milo Richard Widmark died on Monday, May 17, 2010 after a ten-year struggle with multiple myeloma. Milo was born in Pequot Lakes, MN to Wallace and Mae Widmark on May 25, 1938. He graduated from the Pequot Lakes High School and attended Brainerd Community College and the University of Minnesota. Milo married his high school sweetheart on June 27, 1959. Following their marriage they resided in Minneapolis, Brainerd, and Alexandria. They were blessed with four children, John, Scott, Lisa and Paul. Milo spent his working years at the Northwest Paper Co. in Brainerd, and then joined the Production Credit Association, which brought him to Alexandria. His financial career continued at United Federal Savings and Loan and First Bank. In 1987 Milo along with his partner Tony Schneiderhan began a real estate development and management firm. His hobbies included ?putzing? on his farm near Holmes City, camping, traveling and most of all spending time with his grandchildren. Milo and Junnell were also dedicated members of First Lutheran Church and enjoyed working with the youth and creating opportunities to provide classrooms in Tanzania through Operation Bootstrap Africa. His calm leadership and the respect shown to all people inspired others to do the same. Milo was a humble person and if he was reading this now, he would say, ?That?s enough about me.? Milo is survived by his loving wife, Junnell and children John Widmark and wife, Carleen, of Alexandria, Scott Widmark of Wausau, WI, Lisa Widmark Fields of New Hope, MN and Paul Widmark of Boston, MA; eleven grandchildren, Brent and wife, Cassie, Brian, Britta, Bryce, Jakob, Alexa, Blake, Michelle, Daryl, Morgan and Kortney Milo; one brother, Thomas Widmark of Crosslake, MN. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother, Harlo and his daughter-in-law, Shari Widmark. A funeral service was held Thursday, May 20, 2010 at First Lutheran Church in Alexandria with Reverend Greg Billberg officiating. Randy Morken, Patrick Kalina and Bill Riggs provided music. Interment followed in the Kinkead Cemetery. Casket bearers included all of Milo?s grandchildren. Arrangements were with the Anderson Funeral Home in Alexandria.
